University Tees vs CustomInk vs Kotis vs RushOrderTees for Greek Life Merch
AUGUST 17, 2026
9 MIN READ

Most Greek merch chairs end up comparing the same four names: University Tees, CustomInk, Kotis, and RushOrderTees. They are not interchangeable. One is built around campus reps and group orders. One is a self-serve design lab for anyone. One closed its Greek division. One is built for speed and low minimums.
This is a fair comparison of who each is for, plus Couture as the 420 GSM, free-design option. We are not listing competitor prices or fabric weights we cannot verify. Those change by blank, decoration, and quantity. Ask each shop for a quote on the same spec if you need a side-by-side dollar number.
If you already know you want an alternative to a big self-serve shop, see our CustomInk, Underground Printing, Fresh Prints, and South by Sea alternative pieces. The wider Greek roundup is best custom merch for sorority and Greek life. If the constraint is the calendar, see rush fulfillment (speed, not recruitment shirts).
Who each is for
University Tees. For chapters that want a student Campus Manager on their campus, in-house designers, and a group-order workflow (including an order-collection link). UTees also handles Greek and collegiate licensing. Their public group-order materials cite a 12-person minimum to open a Bird Bank collection link, and they advertise opening a box in 7–10 business days. If you want a campus rep who texts you and walks the order, this is the model.
CustomInk. For anyone who wants to open a browser, use a design lab, and order without a campus rep. Schools, businesses, events, and Greek orgs all go through the same self-serve flow. That is the point: it is a generalist. Fine when you already have art and you want a catalog of blanks. Weak when you want someone who already knows rush week, bid day, and chapter letters.
Kotis. Not a current Greek-life vendor. Kotis says on its college page that its Greek division is closed (kotisdesign.com/college/). They still work with college departments, clubs, and RSOs, and they sell a swag platform with warehousing and fulfillment. If you are a chapter looking for bid day tees, they are not the shop for that lane anymore. If you are a department or a brand that needs kitting and shipping, they still do that work.
RushOrderTees. For chapters that need a self-serve design studio, licensed Greek art, and a low or no printed minimum. Their help center lists no minimum on printed apparel and a 6-piece minimum on embroidery. They market rush shipping and, on their own materials, standard delivery on the order of about two weeks. This is the “we need shirts and we needed them yesterday” option, not a heavyweight-blank specialist.
Couture. For chapters and orgs that want 420 GSM heavyweight hoodies and crewnecks, free design with unlimited revisions, and a 12-piece minimum. Standard turnaround is 2–3 weeks after design approval. Rush is 7–10 days. Starting prices: Heavyweight Hoodie $58, Crewneck $53, Quarterzip $53, Sweatpants $58, Classic T-shirt $26.
Comparison matrix
| Blanks | Design | Mins | Turnaround | Greek fit | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| University Tees | Broad catalog; they help match a blank to a price point. No public GSM spec we can cite here. | In-house designers plus a Campus Manager on campus. | Bird Bank collection link: 12 signups. Ready-to-wear shop: no minimum on those SKUs, per their FAQ. | They advertise 7–10 business days on group orders. | Built for Greek and student orgs. Licensing and campus reps. |
| CustomInk | Large blank catalog for a general audience. No GSM claimed here. | Self-serve Design Lab. Design help exists as an add-on, not a dedicated chapter process. | Varies by product. Confirm on the product page; we are not inventing a number. | Varies by method and rush option. Confirm at checkout. | Will print Greek art. Not a Greek-only shop. |
| Kotis | Custom swag and fully custom items for brands and campuses. Not a Greek blank line. | Product / platform team for departments and brands. | Not applicable to chapter drops. Greek division is closed. | Platform / fulfillment timelines, not a rush-week merch clock. | Greek division closed. College departments, clubs, RSOs still served. |
| RushOrderTees | Own and catalog blanks for tees and other apparel. No GSM claimed here. | Free Design Studio; in-house review of uploaded art. | Printed apparel: no minimum. Embroidery: 6 pieces, per their help center. | They market rush shipping; standard is often described as about two weeks. | Licensed Greek apparel. Built for speed, not a chapter design partner. |

No design fees. | 12 pieces per design. | 2–3 weeks after design approval. Rush 7–10 days. | Greek, clubs, and campus teams. 150+ chapters. Founded at Michigan. |
University Tees
University Tees is the campus-rep company. You get a student Campus Manager, an account-style sales motion, and designers on staff. That is a real advantage if you want someone in the same dining hall who can collect sizes and walk a Bird Bank link through the chapter. They also list Greek licensing, collegiate licensing, bag-and-tag, and individual or bulk shipping.
The tradeoff is the model itself. You are in a national campus-rep network. Service quality follows the person on your campus. Blanks are chosen to a price point, which is useful for a budget, and it also means you should ask what you are actually getting before you assume it is a heavyweight garment. We are not assigning them a GSM we cannot verify.
CustomInk
CustomInk is the default Google result for “custom shirts.” The Design Lab is the product. You can place an order at 11 p.m. without talking to anyone. That is why businesses and one-off events use it, and why some chapters use it when they already have a file and just need it printed.
It is a generalist. The same flow that prints a 5k shirt prints a rush shirt. If you want a dedicated chapter process, unlimited design revisions with no design invoice, or a specified heavyweight blank, you are asking CustomInk to be something it is not. More on that in our Custom Ink alternative article.
Kotis
Kotis started in Greek, at the University of Washington, and they say so. They also say the Greek division is closed. That is the fact that matters for this comparison. A merch chair searching “Kotis Greek” in 2026 should not expect bid day tees from the old college sales motion.
What remains is a swag company: custom merch, a management platform, warehousing, fulfillment, and group-order tools aimed at departments, clubs, RSOs, and brands. That can still be the right vendor after graduation, or for a campus office. It is the wrong row if your job is chapter apparel this semester.
RushOrderTees
RushOrderTees sells speed and flexibility. No printed minimum, a Design Studio, licensed Greek categories, and rush shipping when the date is close. If you need 8 rush shirts for a last-minute philanthropy and you already have art, that is a sensible use.
It is not the same job as a chapter wardrobe. A no-minimum printed tee is a different product from a 420 GSM hoodie with a design you revise until the chapter votes yes. Use RushOrderTees for the emergency tee. Use a heavyweight shop when the piece has to last past the event.
Where Couture sits
Couture is the 420 GSM, free-design option. We mock up the letters or the screenshot, revise until you approve, then produce. 12-piece minimum. 2–3 weeks after approval, or 7–10 days on rush. Starting prices are listed above. We do not run a campus-rep network and we do not sell a self-serve design lab. If you want a student on your quad collecting sizes, University Tees is built for that. If you want to click through a lab tonight, CustomInk or RushOrderTees is built for that.
If the job is everyday chapter wear that still looks like itself in March, that is the row we occupy.
